Science Lab fun!!

On May 20, 2011 the 4th and 5th grade students conducted a pig heart dissection in our school's science lab.  Guided by a trained member of the Discovery Science Center, students were able to look into a pig's heart and compare it to a human heart. At the same time they mapped the chambers of the heart and traced the blood's pathway through the circulatory system.  Students were broken into groups of three or four and each group of students was given a heart to work with.  With lots of excitement and intrigue, students were able to take what was read about and discussed in class and bring it to life with a real world experience!
