Mesrobian's 4th Grade Class Writes Letters to US Soldiers

As part of a Language Arts assignment, Mrs. Mustain's 4th Grade class has been writing letters to U.S. soldiers overseas.   Our soldiers are in need of encouragement, especially during the holiday season, and our students are getting involved through Operation Gratitude. The students heartfelt thank you cards and drawings are being mailed this week. The assignment gave them the chance to express their appreciation and helped them learn a valuable lesson in gratitude.

THANKSGIVING IN ECE

Our ECE students celebrated Thanksgiving today by dressing as pilgrims and Indians as they had their own version of a Thanksgiving feast. They learned about friendship through stories and songs. They sat together and prayed for all they were thankful for before they enjoyed their meal.

8th Grade Walkathon for the Armenia Fund and Civics Lesson

The 8th Grade class walked from school to Montebello City Hall with their homeroom teacher, Berj Parseghian, raising over $300 for the Armenia Fund.  They were greeted by the Honorable Jack Hadjinian, Mesrobian Class of '86, and City Administrator, Francesca Tucker-Schuyler, who  immediately had students take the seats of city council members, simulating a council meeting. From there Captains Brad Keller and Luis Lopez gave our students a tour of the police department. They had the opportunity to sit in a juvenile holding cell and walk through the dispatch room. They were also shown the usefulness of city cameras by Officer Powers and Officer Ainilian, who is the father and father-in-law of two Mesrobian alumni.
Students were thrilled with their experience and were grateful to see the inner workings of their City Hall and police department.

What many consider the “peculiarities” of adolescent behavior appear to have strong, underlying biological correlations. Dinner for Dodd Attended by Hundreds

The much anticipated Dinner for Dodd event was a huge success!  The committee worked diligently to prepare for what turned out to be a reunion of four decades of proud Mesrobian graduates, many of whom are now Mesrobian parents.  Dignitaries, former Mesrobian principals, community organizations, former and present faculty, and hundreds of Mr. Dodd's students from the last forty years were there to honor him.
Take a glimpse into the event;there will be more details and pictures to follow.

Focus on Dental Health:Guest Visit in ECE

Dr. Antranig Kelleyan DDS, Mesrobian parent, was invited to our ECE classrooms as a special guest on Wednesday, Nov. 13th.  As part of the Early Childhood curriculum, students are taught self help skills and about dental hygiene at a very early age.  Dr. Kelleyan was invited to show our young students the proper way to brush their teeth, about healthy nutrition and the importance of daily brushing.  He also brought them each gifts of new toothbrushes to encourage them to continue practicing good dental hygiene habits. We are grateful to Dr. Kelleyan for taking the time from his busy schedule to come visit us.
