In Memory of George Derkrikorian

This weekend, the Armenian community and Mesrobian family tragically lost a former Mesrobian student in a fatal car crash. George Derkrikorian, at age 23, was killed when his car was hit by a drunk driver early Sunday morning. Some of you may have known George through Mesrobian, through the Montebello community, or even through Camp Shining Light. His smile will truly be missed by all who knew him.

This extremely devastating incident should be a lesson to all of us to NEVER ever drink and drive, no matter what the circumstances may be. There is ALWAYS a better option.

Our prayers and deepest sympathy go out to the Derkrikorian family and we hope God gives them the strength to get through this horrible time.

A Visit to the LA County Museum of Art
(see photos below)

The 3rd through 5th Grade classes visited the LA County Museum of Art (LACMA) in the well-know Miracle Mile area of Los Angeles.  Their art teacher, Ms. Malvina Mkrian, planned the trip to reinforce what they have been learning in art class about various artists and art forms. The students were also accompanied by their homeroom teachers, Nairy Ghoogasian, Houri Injeyan, and Stacy Perumean. They participated in a docent led tour of the museum and later had the chance to walk through the sculpture gardens and have a close look at the La Brea Tarpits as well.  Before heading back to school in the afternoon, they enjoyed running, and especially rolling, down the grassy hill on a beautiful Southern California spring day.
