8th Grade Walkathon for the Armenia Fund and Civics Lesson

The 8th Grade class walked from school to Montebello City Hall with their homeroom teacher, Berj Parseghian, raising over $300 for the Armenia Fund.  They were greeted by the Honorable Jack Hadjinian, Mesrobian Class of '86, and City Administrator, Francesca Tucker-Schuyler, who  immediately had students take the seats of city council members, simulating a council meeting. From there Captains Brad Keller and Luis Lopez gave our students a tour of the police department. They had the opportunity to sit in a juvenile holding cell and walk through the dispatch room. They were also shown the usefulness of city cameras by Officer Powers and Officer Ainilian, who is the father and father-in-law of two Mesrobian alumni.
Students were thrilled with their experience and were grateful to see the inner workings of their City Hall and police department.
