Open House A Success!
Among the hundreds of people at Armenian
Mesrobian School’s Open House on April 27, 2013 were students, faculty, staff,
parents, alumni, future and prospective students and families, community
members, and guests. The unprecedented
Open House – sponsored by the School’s Alumni Organization, Club Mesrobian- at
the beautifully renovated campus proudly showcased for the community the
school’s many strengths and accomplishments and gave an opportunity to unveil
and share some plans to come.
Greeted by student ambassadors, guests
enjoyed tours and simply wandering around the school campus where they saw
first-hand, among other things, students participating in choir rehearsals,
soccer practice, cooking and demonstrations.
Guests were encouraged to join students in the art class to create their
own ceramic art work in the school’s art studio, which has its own kiln,
allowing students to see their projects through from concept to final product. Younger children gathered for story time in
the school’s Karapetian Library, which is currently being redesigned to include
an area for storytelling as well as a puppet theatre.
All classrooms were open to guests, who
saw high-quality student work prominently and proudly displayed. Along the way, people had the opportunity to
visit the school’s science lab, where stations were set up for exploration. Among the highlights were the student-led
demonstrations of the school’s newly acquired and cutting-edge interactive
technology in the Ter-Minasian Computer Lab.
